Grading Options

For any courses where you current grading option is “Letter Grades”, you will have three options for your final grade:

Grading Options Grades Recorded on Transcript Grades Recorded on Transcript
Option 1:

Letter Grades*		 Graded (A, B, C, D, No Credit)

Note: No Credit (NC) will appear on the transcript in lieu of an F grade;

NC grades do not negatively impact your GPA		 Graded (A, B, C, D, No Credit)

Option 2:

For any courses where your current grading option is “Letter Grades/No Credit” you will have the choice to continue with this grading option or switch to the “Credit/No Credit” option.

If your current grading option is “Credit/No Credit”, there are no other grading options offered.

  1. Send completed form as attachment from your SFSU email directly to your advisor or department office. 
  2. A physical signature is not needed only if submitting forms via SFSU email.

  4. Once complete, the final approver (Chair) should send directly to the Registrar’s graduation email regweb@sfsu.edu.

Note: Graduate students who intend to graduate Spring or Summer 2023 should contact the Division of Graduate Studies at gradstdy@sfsu.edu.

  3. Advisor or department offices will review and forward through any required approval workflow.
  4. Once complete, the final approver should send directly to the Registrar’s records email, records@sfsu.edu.
